Pumza Mxinwa
Soprano
Pumza Mxinwa was born in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, and started singing in her childhood. She joined the Cape Town Opera Company in 2011 as one of the ad hoc chorus members and performed in all local and international productions under the baton of Albert Horne, including La traviata, La bohème, Fidelio, Otello, Porgy and Bess, Lost in the Stars and Heart of Redness.

Career Highlights
In 2014 while also the soprano soloist for the Cape Town Opera Vocal Ensemble, she performed her debut of Evelyn in Mandela Trilogy at the Wales Millennium Centre and in 2016 at the Ravenna Festival; she also understudied Mother of Mandela and Serena Porgy and Bess when the company travelled to Argentina. She is one of the soloists in the African Angels production as it is one of the Cape Town Opera productions which, since 2013, has toured to Amsterdam and other different cities. She recently performed in the Cape Town Opera’s Grace Notes under the baton of Thuthuka Sibisi and Marvin Kernelle. In 2017 she toured Dubai and Hong Kong as Evelyn Mandela Trilogy.
