Harry Fehr is recognised for his thoughtful and thought-provoking productions, telling clear and unexpected stories across a broad repertoire. Recent productions include: La sonnambula (Buxton Festival), Orlando (San Francisco Opera) and Roberto Devereux (Badisches Staatstheater, Karlsruhe). Other highlights include: a number of projects for Scottish Opera: Ariodante, Der fliegende Holländer, Orlando, Il matrimonio segreto, La Cenerentola and Craig Armstrong’s The Lady from the Sea (winner of a Herald Angel Award at the Edinburgh International Festival). Elsewhere, he has also directed Tosca (Nederlandse Reisopera), Orlando (WNO), the Chinese premiere of Falsta¢ (Shanghai Opera House), L’elisir d’amore (Danish National Opera – Production of the Year at the CPHCulture.dk awards), Così fan tutte (Opera Holland Park) and I Capuleti e i Montecchi and La finta giardiniera (Buxton Festival). He works frequently with students, both in the UK and internationally, and enjoys a long-standing relationship with Blackheath Halls Opera, for which he has staged numerous productions with professionals alongside participants from the local community. He studied philosophy at the University of Nottingham and was a member of the Royal Opera, Covent Garden’s Young Artists Programme. This is his ENO debut.
