Alex McCabe

Alex McCabe is a Glasgow-based choreographer and musician working on a broad range of projects. Site-specificity, participatory practice and social inclusion are threads running through diverse artistic outputs.

As a performer, Alex toured for 10 years in disabled-led contemporary dance companies employing disabled and non-disabled performers and, as such, learned and developed inclusive approaches to choreography that have since informed all aspects of creative practice. On the side, Alex is also a professional musician and, as such, has knowledge that has enabled many interdisciplinary projects as well as choreographic collaborations with opera houses (Scottish Opera, English National Opera, Wexford Festival Opera, Japan Opera Foundation, Teatro Reggio Torino, La Fenice, Teatro del Maggio Fiorentino).

Alex holds an MA and PhD in modern languages and literatures and collaborates fluently in English, French, Russian, Italian, Japanese and Spanish. (University of Glasgow, Moscow State Linguistic University, Sorbonne – Paris IV).
