Philip Glass’s mesmerising Akhnaten explores the life and religious convictions of the Egyptian pharaoh.

This beautiful, hypnotic work uses texts drawn from ancient hymns, prayers, letters and inscription sung in their original Egyptian, Hebrew and Akkadian, and narrated in English.

ENO has had a long association with Philip Glass staging the UK premiere of Akhnaten in 1985.

Thirty years later, we are delighted to bring the opera back to the London Coliseum in a brand new production which will bring this seminal minimalist opera to a new generation of opera-lovers.

  • celebration meal with director Phelim McDermott and lead­ing members of the cast**

Donations from £20,000
As above plus:

  • supporter credit on front cover of programme
  • attend an orchestra rehearsal in February 2016
