Anna Elizabeth Cooper
Mezzo-soprano
Originally from Cumbria, mezzo soprano Anna Elizabeth Cooper studied at the Royal College of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music.
Anna is very excited to be joining the English National Opera Harewood Artist programme this season covering Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro (Mozart) and singing Kate in The Pirates of Penzance (Gilbert & Sullivan).
Anna covered Zweite Dame in Glyndebourne’s production of Die Zauberflöte (Mozart). Last summer she made her Glyndebourne solo debut as Hippolyta in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Britten) as well as performing Soeur Alice in Barrie Kosky’s production of Dialogues des Carmélites (Poulenc).
Anna recently toured a new contemporary opera based on the Oscar Wilde Play ‘The Duchess of Padua’ with The Music Troupe by Edward Lambert. Previously to this she performed Olga in Eugene Onegin (Tchaikovsky) at Opera Holland Park and premiered the role of Suzanna in Joseph Howard’s Behind God’s Back at the Tête-à-Tête Festival. Other operatic roles include Concepcion L’heure Espagnole (Ravel), Lisetta il mondo della luna (Haydn), Dinah Trouble in Tahiti (Bernstein) and Cherubino Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart) directed by Sir Thomas Allen.
On the concert platform Anna has performed as a soloist with the London Symphony Orchestra & Choir, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hallè Orchestra.
