Mezzo-soprano

British born Bulgarian-Turkish mezzo-soprano Annabella-Vesela Ellis was a Fellow with ENO Chorus for their 2021/22 season and made her solo debut as New Ofglen in The Handmaid’s Tale which she is reprising in 2023 for the ENO.

As a touring artist she appeared as Mercédès and Carmen cover, Suzuki, Orlovsky and Rosina throughout Europe. Annabella has performed with Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Longborough Festival Opera, British Youth Opera, Dorset Opera, Regents Opera, Swansea City Opera and Devon Opera. Semi-finalist in the Elizabeth Connell Prize, finals round competitor of the prestigious 2023 Tenor Viñas competition, finalist in the 2022 Rita Gorr International Competition, Belgium and second prizewinner in the 2017 Ljuba Welitsch Vocal International Competition, Vienna, finalist in the Maureen Lehane and the Royal Over-seas League competition, London.

 

Career Highlights

As a concert artist, Annabella was a featured soloist in the Mozart Requiem at the Grande Halle aux Grains Toulouse with Orquesta Reino de Aragon. She has performed solo and collaborate concerts at the Wigmore Hall, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Leeds Lieder Festival (Pop-Up) and launched the Norfolk County Music Festival. Annabella has also performed Mozart’s C Minor Mass, Bach’s B Minor Mass and Christmas Oratorio and will be making her solo debut with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra next year.
