He won first prize in Operalia, won the grand finals of the Met Opera National Council Auditions, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Princeton University where he has returned to teach, and received his masters from Manhattan School of Music. He is an exclusive recording artist for Decca Gold, and his first album, ARC, was nominated for the 2019 Grammy for Best Classical Solo Vocal Album. He was also named Musical America’s 2019 Vocalist of the Year.

Notable engagements elsewhere: Unulfo Rodelinda, Ferdinand/Prospero The Enchanted Island, Orlofsky (Metropolitan Opera, New York); Rinaldo (Glyndebourne); and appearances with Teatro Real in Madrid, San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Houston Grand Opera, Philadelphia Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Spoleto Festival and Canadian Opera Company. He has sung with the Berliner Philharmoniker, LSO, San Francisco Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, and Jordi Savall in Barcelona, Paris, and Versailles. He has also performed at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, on Broadway and in the Merchant Ivory film A Soldier’s Daughter Never Cries.
Current/recent engagements: produced/performed the interdisciplinary installation GLASS/HANDEL (New York, Philadelphia); Messiah (New York Philharmonic), US tour with Les Violons du Roy.
Forthcoming: Le Grand Macabre (NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester); Lincoln Center Great Performers concert with Anne Sofie von Otter/Philharmonia Baroque; Poppea (Boston Baroque); Akhnaten (Metropolitan Opera).
