Recent directing credits: Die Fledermaus (Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts); artinstallation for the Shangri-La Hotel at the Shard. She is co-editor/ translator of Picador Book of Contemporary Chinese Fiction, and translated the screenplay of Flowers of War (dir. Zhang Yimou). She co-produced The Wisdom of Crocodiles, and for Miramax acted as consultant on several Chinese films including Hero (dir. Zhang Yimou) and The Promise (dir. Chen Kaige). She was a director of ENO Opera Works and has led workshops for the University of the Arts. She and Anthony Minghella shared the Olivier Award for Outstanding Contribution to Opera for Butterfly; she was nominated for the Asian Women of Achievement awards; and Parsifal, which she choreographed, was the recipient of the Claude Rostland Award for Best Production by the French Critics’ Association, and the Diapason d’Or.
