David Adams
Leader
David Adams is the Leader of the Orchestra of WNO and tutor in violin at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Previously he was Leader of the Ulster Orchestra and taught at RNCM. He has been a member of the Raphael Ensemble, Ovid Ensemble and the London Bridge Trio. Equally at home on violin and viola, he has made regular guest appearances, recordings and broadcasts with the Nash Ensemble, Endellion String Quartet, Gould Piano Trio and Hebrides Ensemble. He attends IMS Prussia Cove and was privileged to be participating in the IMS 50th anniversary concerts at Wigmore Hall last year. He has appeared as guest leader with many of the UK’s symphony and chamber orchestras, most recently the Hallé, the Orchestra of the ROH and at ENO. In his position at WNO he regularly directs concerts from the violin and performs concertos with the orchestra. He belongs to a musical family, his father was principal viola of the Hallé and he is married to the cellist Alice Neary. He and Alice are Artistic Directors of the Penarth Chamber Music Festival.
