Fiona Shaw is well known as a theatre, film and television actress.

Career Highlights

Notable opera engagements elsewhere: Rape of Lucretia (Glyndebourne on Tour, Glyndebourne, Deutsche Oper Berlin); Cherubini’s Medea (Wexford).

Notable theatre credits: many collaborations with Deborah Warner at the RNT and elsewhere (Happy Days, Dido and Aeneas, Julius Caesar, The Powerbook, Medea, The Waste Land (also BBCTV), Electra, Footfalls, Richard II). Also Woman and Scarecrow (Royal Court Upstairs); London Assurance, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, The Rivals, The Good Person of Sechuan (RNT); As You Like It, Les liaisons dangereuses, Mephisto, Much Ado About Nothing, The Merchant of Venice, The Taming of the Shrew (RSC); Hedda Gabler, John Gabriel Borkman (Dublin, London and NYC).

 

Film and television appearances: True Blood, Tree of Life, The Butcher Boy, Harry Potter films, The Black Dahlia, The Last September, Trial and Retribution, Firework for Elspeth, For the Greater Good, Hedda Gabler, Persuasion, Gormenghast. Her awards include two Evening Standard Awards for Best Actress and three Olivier Awards for Best Actress, and she was appointed CBE in 2001.
