Associate Lighting Designer
Kimmo Ruskela has worked at the Finnish National Opera since 1985, during which time he has created lighting for close to 50 opera and ballet productions and acted as lighting manager for numerous productions.
Career Highlights
Among his lighting work at Finnish National Opera are productions of The Death of Klinghoffer, Wozzeck, Khovanschina, Il viaggio a Reims (under the direction of Dario Fo), Kat’a Kabanová, Norma and Die Frau ohne Schatten. He was also responsible for the lighting design of Finnish National Opera’s performance of Rautavaara’s Rasputin (Mariinsky Theatre, St Petersburg).
His most recent lighting design was Der Ring des Nibelungen (Finnish National Opera and Ballet; New National Theatre, Tokyo).
