Lauren Young
Mezzo-soprano
Scottish mezzo soprano Lauren Young is a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Alexander Gibson Opera Studio and was one of the inaugural artists of Mascarade Opera Studio in Florence for the 2020/2021 season. She is a Britten Pears Young Artist 2022/2023 and recipient of an Independent Opera Fellowship.

Career Highlights
In 2020, she was the winner of the Clonter Opera Prize and Joaninha Trust Award. With her duo partner Jose Javier Ucendo, she was a finalist in the Oxford Lieder Young Artist Platform 2020.
Recent engagements include: cover Mrs Alexander Satyagraha, cover Rossweisse The Valkyrie (ENO); Matilda Ottone (ETO); Vana Vivala Diva (Buxton International Festival); opera scenes at Teatro La Fenice; Lucretia (RCS Opera); Witch Hansel and Gretel (Silent Opera/BYO). She made her Wigmore Hall debut in October 2020 as part of the Independent Opera Scholar’s Recital and performed in Britten Pears Arts’ Britten Weekend with Malcolm Martineau.
Forthcoming: performances at the Aldeburgh Festival; Verdi Requiem(Cheltenham Philharmonic Orchestra); return to ETO in Autumn 2023.
