Monica McGhee
Soprano
Scottish soprano Monica McGhee was a Young Artist at the National Opera Studio (2020/2021) and a graduate of the RCS and RCM.
Recent title roles include Tosca with Opera Bohemia, Beatrice with Mid Wales Opera and Iolanta with IF Opera. Other operatic highlights include Lëila ( Les Pecheurs des Perles) cover with Opera North, Soprano Soloist Scottish Opera Highlights Tour, Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) Dorset Opera Festival, Mimi (La Bohème) with Kensington Symphony Orchestra.
Monica has performed as a soloist in some of the country’s greatest venues including The Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Bridgewater Hall, The Barbican, Glasgow City Halls and Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.
She was a competition finalist in the Susan Chilcott Award, the Les Azuriales Opera Competition and the Tenor Viñas competition.
Forthcoming engagements include Adina for the Celebrate Voice festival in Salisbury and the soprano soloist in Mahler’s 4th Symphony with Kensington Symphony Orchestra at St John Smith’s Square.
Monica will make her English National Opera debut in February 2025 as Mary Beaton in Thea Musgrave’s Mary Queen of Scots.
