Odette Hughes joined Company Wayne McGregor as a dancer in June 1997, becoming the company’s Rehearsal Director in 2000.

Career Highlights

Odette was First Assistant Choreographer to McGregor on Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2004). She worked as Rehearsal Director on Michel Ocelot’s musical Kirikou et Karaba which McGregor directed, and on The Royal Ballet’s Engram and ENO’s Salome, both choreographed by McGregor. She assisted McGregor on his production of Dido and Aeneas at La Scala, Milan, and has restaged numerous McGregor Ballets. She has also restaged McGregor’s contemporary pieces for education establishments. In addition, she has taught numerous workshops and masterclasses, and has extensive experience in community and outreach work for all age and abilities, including commissioned work with the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

In 2018–19, she worked as Rehearsal Director for Tom Hooper’s feature film production Cats, based on the musical by Andrew Lloyd-Webber. In 2019, she worked as dramaturg for the 10th anniversary programme at the Lowry Centre for Advanced Training Scheme (CATs). She was appointed Associate Director of Studio Wayne McGregor in 2007.
