The Barber of Seville will mark Patrick’s debut at the English National Opera.
2024 will also see Patrick make his debut at Garsington Opera Festival in the role of Il Conte for the OperaFirst performance of Le Nozze di Figaro as an Alvarez Young Artist. He will also be performing the role of Oeo in the contemporary opera Trip to the Moon.
Recent operatic highlights include Glyndebourne Festival chorus for the 2023 season, performing in: Don Giovanni, L’elisir d’amore, Semele and The Rake’s Progress.
Earlier in 2023, Patrick sang the role of Joseph de Rocher (Dead Man Walking) for the UK’s fully staged premiere at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (GSMD) whilst on the Opera Course under the tutelage of Robert Dean. Other full roles include Des Grieux (Portrait de Manon) and King (Fete Galante). Patrick took part in many opera scenes, performing the roles of Demetrius (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Don Giovanni, Robert (Iolanta) and Owen Wingrave. In addition to this, he continued to explore the challenge of contemporary opera, singing the lead roles in two newly commissioned operas that premiered in 2022 (Bloody Murder and Samhain Bloom).
Career Highlights
Prior to GSMD, Patrick studied at the Royal Academy of Music (RAM) completing his master’s degree under the guidance of Alex Ashworth, where he placed first in the Blyth-Buesst competition (2020).
Born just west of London, Patrick started his singing career as a music scholar and head chorister at Wellington College. Notable performances during this time included a tour to Cologne and singing for members of the Royal Family.
Patrick was awarded a music scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he performed lead roles of Melisso (Alcina) and The Teacher (Der Jasager). During his time in America, Patrick was the president of the university’s premier a capella group: The UNC Clef Hangers. Performance highlights included singing for President Barack Obama’s White House Christmas Party, a private concert for President Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson of Iceland, opening for John Legend, four European tours and three Albums.
Outside of opera, Patrick plays the violin and is an avid tennis and squash player. He was classically trained in ballet for twelve years and physical theatre for three.
