Peter Relton
Revival Director
Revival director, Peter Relton has worked on a number of ENO productions and across opera houses worldwide.
Previously for ENO: revivals of Satyagraha, Akhnaten, Così fan tutte, The Barber of Seville, The Marriage of Figaro.
Career Highlights
He also revived Akhnaten for the Metropolitan Opera and Satyagraha for LA Opera. Recently he was the Associate Director of the world premiere of The Hours at the Metropolitan Opera. He directed Tosca to open the new theatre for Grange Park Opera and has recently revived Lohengrin at the ROH.
Notable engagements elsewhere: Recently, he helped revive Rigoletto at the Royal Opera House. Previously at Grange Park Opera he has revived Stephen Medcalf’s production of La fanciulla del West and Anthony McDonald’s production of The Queen of Spades. He also transferred their production of Fiddler on the Roof into the Albert Hall for the BBC Proms. He has directed Die Fledermaus (Fulham Opera); La bohème, Falstaff and La Rondine (Opera North); Cavalleria rusticana and I Pagliacci (Festival de la Vezere); La voix humaine (Les Azuriales Opera Festival); La Cenerentola and Tosca (Opera Brava); The Pearl Fishers and Nabucco (Northern Opera); The Marriage of Figaro, La traviata, The Magic Flute and Tosca (Opera Nova). He has also worked with students, directing scenes at both the RCM and RAM. As an assistant director he has worked at ENO, ROH, Opera North, Scottish Opera and Glyndebourne, assisting directors such as Phyllida Lloyd, Rufus Norris, Phelim McDermott, David Pountney, Deborah Warner, Ian Judge, Jonathan Miller, Jeremy Sams, Philip Prowse, Tim Albery and Francesca Zambello. As a revival director he has worked in Austria, Holland and Germany.
