Video Designer
Roberto Vitalini is head of BASHIBA SA, a company dealing in imaginary universes, video art, interactive art and video scenography.
In 2009, Roberto started collaborating with Daniele Finzi Pasca, creating his first video scenography for the opera L’Amour de Loin for the English National Opera, London and thus entered the performing arts and cultural events.
Roberto loves using machines to create emotional visual atmospheres. Over the years he has worked on lyric operas like Verdi’s Requiem, Aida, Traviata (with Maestro Valery Gergiev) for Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, “Les Contes d‘Hoffmann” for Hamburg Staatsoper, “Einstein on the Beach” by Philip Glass and Robert Wilson for Grand Théâtre de Genève, Carmen (Maestro Zubin Metha) for Teatro San Carlo in Naples, large events like two Olympic ceremonies (Sochi Olympic and Paralympic Games, in 2014), Montréal Avudo, a multimedia outdoor show on the banks of Montreal’s river for the city’s 375th anniversary (2017), Fête des Vignerons (Switzerland, 2019), the 24-hours live concert for the inauguration of Zaryadye’s Concert Organ (Moscow, 2020), Rouen Cathedral in light (Point Cloud Voyage for CosmoAV, Video Mapping, 2022), Red Dream (Shenzhen, Public Media Artwork 2022) and T1gers for the Chongqing Light Art Festival (China, Video Mapping, 2023).
