Tatjana Gürbaca
Director
Tatjana Gürbaca was born in Berlin and studied opera direction at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler, Berlin. Her studies in music, drama and dance were extended by master courses.

Career Highlights
She was the last ‘Meisterschülerin’ of the celebrated director Ruth Berghaus. She made her professional debut directing Puccini’s Turandot (Graz Opera), and has worked as a freelance director ever since.
Career highlights include: Parsifal (Vlaamse Opera); Der Ring des Nibelungen, directed as a trilogy which focussed on Hagen, Siegfried and Brünnhilde, the protagonists of the ‘second generation’ (Theater an der Wien, 2017); Alcina (Vienna); Jephtha (Halle); and, most recently, Don Giovanni (Bremen). In 2013, she was named Director of the Year by Germany’s magazine Opernwelt.
