Valentina Peleggi
Conductor
Valentina Peleggi is an Italian conductor and the Mackerras Fellow at ENO. She studied in Rome, Siena and at the Royal Academy of Music, winning the top prizes at each institution.

Career Highlights
Valentina is also Guest Music Director at the Teatro São Pedro in São Paulo, conducting an Italian opera there every season (Rossini in 2018). This follows two years as Resident Conductor of the OSESP São Paulo Symphony Orchestra under Marin Alsop and Principal Conductor of their professional chorus, when she was awarded the São Paulo Critics’ Prize for Conductor of the Year 2018 and the Audience vote in Revista Concerto (Brazil’s major classical music magazine). Guest conducting engagements this season includes concerts with the BBC Singers, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Baltimore Symphony, Gothenburg Opera Orchestra, a subscription week with the São Paulo Symphony and a Villa Lobos CD with the symphonic chorus.
This season sees symphonic debuts with the RPO and subscription weeks with the Bournemouth Symphony and the BBC Scottish Symphony, in which she will premiere a new orchestration of Alma Mahler songs by Roxana Panufnik (commissioned by the BBC for Peleggi). She will return to the Orchestra della Toscana in her hometown of Florence, conduct two successive weeks with the Richmond Symphony in Virginia (USA), and makes her first appearance in Holland conducting the Residentie Orkest.
