Opera Squad supports schools by enriching their arts provision and connecting pupils and staff to professionals working in the industry across an initial year-long residency. We work closely with each school to respond to their needs, developing a bespoke programme of activity across the academic year.
We launch each residency with a one day takeover in the Autumn term, exposing the whole school community to the power of opera and engaging pupils and staff in a range of creative activity.
We support teachers to explore opera as a stimulus for learning across the curriculum, connecting them with artists to open up creative practice and nurturing creative expression in the classroom.
We deliver in school projects to develop young people’s skills across music, drama, creative writing and art/design and open up the stories behind our productions.
We offer Opera Squad schools priority access to rehearsals, backstage visits and tickets to ENO productions, exposing pupils and staff to the workings of the company and providing opportunities to meet professionals working in the industry.
We also prioritise work experience opportunities for pupils at Opera Squad schools and encourage them to engage with our youth programme.
