9th December 2016 in News

We are delighted that a number of our productions and artists have been nominated in What’s On Stage’s Opera Poll 2017.

Phelim McDermott’s production of Akhnaten has been shortlisted in the ‘Best New Opera’ category with countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo nominated for his performance as Akhnaten in ‘Outstanding Achievement in an Operatic Role’. Both David Alden’s Jenufa and Simon McBurney’s The Magic Flute feature in ‘Best Opera Revival’. Following her recent role and ENO debut as Lulu in William Kentridge’s critically acclaimed production, Brenda Rae features in the ‘Breakthrough Artist in UK Opera’. Former ENO Music Director Mark Wigglesworth has also been nominated in the ‘Event of the Year/Outstanding Contribution to the UK Operatic Scene’.

Many congratulations to everyone who has worked on these wonderful productions, and to all of our artists nominated for their amazing music-making.
