ENO to feature at Proms on The Roof
11th April 2016 in News
English National Opera is delighted to be collaborating this year with The Roof Gardens in Kensington for its Proms on The Roof summer season.
Proms on The Roof invites guests to make the most of the summer evenings and lose themselves 100ft above Kensington High Street in amongst The Spanish Garden, Tudor Garden and English Woodland.
From 6.30pm – 10pm on selected Wednesdays in May and August classical music lovers can enjoy a treat for the eyes and ears with music as beautiful as the setting. Leaving the rush of the city behind, guests can while away the summer evenings listening to classical and world music, New Orleans Jazz and sultry opera.
The first in the series will be on Wednesday, 11 May. The spectacular opening night will feature ENO soloists Soraya Mafi and David Webb. Soraya and David will be doing a pop up performance in the gardens and singing a selection of classical music favourites in English accompanied by an ENO pianist.
Soraya and David are both ENO Harewood Artists. Soraya has already performed in The Pirates of Penzance, directed by Mike Leigh, and The Magic Flute, directed by Simon McBurney. She will also perform for the company in the revival of Jenufa in June. David will be making his ENO debut in June in a new production of Tristan and Isolde directed by Daniel Kramer and designed by Anish Kapoor. Soraya and David will return to The Roof Gardens on Wednesday 24th August to close Proms on The Roof 2016 and see the series out in style.
Tickets can be purchased from Design My Night for £29.50 and include a welcome cocktail on arrival. Tickets can be bought here too.
