ENO Weekly Round Up, Week of 23/03/20

31st March 2020 in News

We had another wonderful round of content this past week from our ENO family at home, with members of the Chorus and Orchestra alike getting in on the fun. Catch up on our goings on below, and test yourself against this week’s #ENOQuiz!

ENO Orchestra Horn player Corinne Bailey showed us how to reuse your washing up bottles and put your knowledge of The Marriage of Figaro to use, at the same time:

We had more #ENOHandWashing fun with ENO Chorus members Mike Burke, Paul Sheehan, Andrew Tinkler and David Newman!

The Marriage of Figaro‘s Louise Alder gave a stunning a cappella rendition of the Flower Maidens from Wagner‘s Parsifal:

Philippa from our Props Workshop gave a tutorial on how to make your own origami birds, as seen in Madam Butterfly:

Our wonderful ENO Orchestra clarinets performed ‘Song to the Moon’ from Dvořák‘s Rusalka whilst respecting social distancing – it CAN be done!

The Marriage of Figaro‘s Johnathan McCullough shared his isolation playlist with us, full of tunes keeping the boisterous baritone bopping:

‘Hello! Welcome to my isolation playlist. Music is a great way to deal with stress and a wonderful coping mechanism in uncertain times like these. I put this playlist together to give you a bit of a mood boost. I grew up listing to all different kinds of music and actually played in a rock band before making the switch over to opera. I’ve included some of my favorite bands/songs along with some stuff that I’m currently listening to.

I had tickets to see Waitress on the West End this past week, so I decided to open with one of the first songs from that. I’ve sprinkled some of my favorites from broadway, opera, and rock. Hope you enjoy!’

In honour of World Theatre Day, our CEO Stuart Murphy looked back at his time with ENO and his most enjoyable moments in a series of tweets:

Paul from our Props department started off our #ENOLegoChallenge, daring members of the public to recreate their famous ENO scenes with Lego!

Finally, we have this weeks ENO Quiz – test your knowledge and tweet your result with #ENOQuiz:
