Match Campaign raises a record-breaking £215,390 to support the ENO Harewood Artists
1st December 2017 in News
We are delighted to announce that £107,695 has been donated towards the ENO Harewood Artists programme as part of the annual ‘Match Campaign’, which took place from Monday 20 to Thursday 30 November 2017.
Thanks to the generous support from the Shears Foundation, the Queen Anne’s Gate Foundation, Talal & Lina Kanafani and Sir Vernon & Lady Hazel Ellis, these donations have been matched and doubled. This means that £215,390 will be invested in the future of British operatic talent at English National Opera.
Thank you to all those who supported the campaign. Your donations to the programme, which is funded entirely through donations, will be invested in long-standing and highly valuable training and mentoring, which immensely benefits 12 young singers each season.
ENO Head of Casting, Michelle Williams said:
“On behalf of the 12 ENO Harewood Artists I would like to thank all those who generously donated towards this year’s Harewood Artists Match Campaign.
The ENO Harewood Artists programme is paid for in its entirety through donations and it is only with the support of ENO Patrons, Friends and audiences that we are able to deliver the programme and expand the opportunities available to these talented young singers.
Alongside regular coaching, mentoring and guidance, this season’s Harewood Artists are taking on 20 leading roles in ENO productions at the London Coliseum; most notably there will be five ENO Harewood Artists performing in our revival of Robert Carsen’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream in March 2018.
I am thrilled that audiences will have the opportunity to hear more from so many of these rising stars in the New Year.”
