The Orange Tree Theatre is an iconic venue in the heart of Richmond bringing theatre up close to audiences in their iconic round auditorium. We are inviting you to join us on 1st May for a performance of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s London premier production of Ben & Imo, telling the whirlwind tale of Benjamin Britten and Imogen Holst, two of the 20th centuries biggest musical minds. Written by Mark Ravenhill and directed by Erica Whyman this beautiful piece is a must watch for every fan of Britten operas, diving into his genius at work.

Mark Ravenhill is one of the most significant and widely performed playwrights, actor, and director in British theatre in the last thirty years. Best known for his play Shopping & F***ing, The Cut, and the musical The Boy in the Dress, additional to his celebrated work in opera. As a fun fact, Mark Ravenhill used to work as a front of house attendant at ENO where he found his love for opera.

Before the performance, we will have dinner at Bacco, a lovely Italian restaurant right next door to the Orange Tree Theatre, where we will enjoy a delicious 3 course meal in their private dining room. You will have the chance to meet the playwright, Mark Ravenhill, in a private interval reception for a glass of fizz, asking him all your burning questions about the show.
