Following last season’s The Turn of the Screw, we are very pleased to continue our collaboration with Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre with Engelbert Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel.
In the unique environment of Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, experience the Grimm Brothers’ fairytale anew in this operatic retelling by Engelbert Humperdinck.
Rising star Ben Glassberg conducts members of the ENO Orchestra, with direction by Open Air Theatre Artistic director Timothy Sheader, who also directed last season’s The Turn of the Screw. Design is by Olivier Award-winner Peter McKintosh, with movement direction by Lizzi Gee.
The cast includes former ENO Harewood Artist Duncan Rock, sharing the role of Father with Ben McAteer, with Gweneth Ann Rand and Rosie Aldridge singing Mother. Rachel Kelly and Heather Lowe share the role of Hansel, both making their ENO debuts, while Susanna Hurrell and Elizabeth Karani share the role of Gretel.
