BBC Two to broadcast Mozart’s Requiem
5th November 2020 in News
We are delighted to announce that BBC Two will broadcast Mozart’s Requiem on Saturday 14 November at 19.00, presented by Danielle de Niese.
Originally intended to be performed for live audiences on 6 & 7 November, Requiem has instead been performed and recorded specially for a lockdown television audience at the London Coliseum. Strict safety measures were put in place for the performers, crew and presenter.
ENO Music Director Martyn Brabbins has unfortunately had to withdraw from conducting, but we are delighted to welcome Mark Wigglesworth back to ENO, who will now be filling the role of Conductor.
ENO’s award-winning Chorus and Orchestra are joined by soloists Elizabeth Llewellyn (soprano), Dame Sarah Connolly (Mezzo Soprano), Ed Lyon (Tenor) and Gerald Finley (Bass).
‘We are grateful to the DCMS and Oliver Dowden for permitting ENO to perform this special concert of Mozart’s Requiem and delighted that BBC Two will enable music lovers across the country to experience it.’ Stuart Murphy, CEO
